Help Restore and Preserve the Historic Bell Tavern

The Bell Tavern Association, Inc., a nonprofit, is in the process of raising funds to restore and preserve the Bell Tavern. The Tavern is historically significant because of the meeting that took place at the tavern between many "Friends of Liberty" also known as Antifederalist who pressed and eventually succeeded to have a Bill of Rights included in the United States Constitution

A symbolic building worth saving In our modern society, where there is so much debate among polarized groups, questions over governmental reach, and a general undertone of unrest, it is now more than ever that we must recognize the incredible privileges the freedom we have allows us, as Americans. Just as importantly, we must understand that those freedoms were not always guaranteed, rather they were forged by founding fathers who were willing to risk being on the wrong side of history to fight for the rights of the citizen. Inside the walls of the Bell Tavern momentum for a better future was formed. The Bell Tavern must continue to stand; not so something old won’t be destroyed for something new, but because it is a symbol of the American spirit. It reminds us of how diligently all Americans must pursue what is right and the freedoms of all.

About Us

The Bell Tavern Assoc., Inc.

store owner

In a mistake of historic proportion, in January 2016 the back of the Bell Tavern was removed by Triple Crown Corporation. In response, a 501(c)3 non-profit was formed in February 2016. The Bell Tavern Association consists of dedicated local historians, preservationists and concerned citizens. Our first priority is to secure possession of the historic site, followed by vigorous fundraising to restore the circa 1780 building.
